A teardown video of the iPhone 11 Pro Max has confirmed Apple‘s claim that the new oversized model will have a longer battery life than its predecessors.
The video, uploaded by DChannel on YouTube, shows a new L-shaped battery used by Apple to increase battery life. Almost 25 percent bigger than the previous iteration, the new battery carries 15.04 watt-hours of storage, whilst the iPhone XS Max only carried 12.06 watt-hours. Tests from The Verge report that the battery life increased from eight to 10 hours on the XS Max on a single charge to 12 to 14 hours on the iPhone 11 Pro Max review unit — results that are quite in line with Apple’s claim of five extra hours. Aside from a larger battery, part of the increased battery life may also be attributed to Apple’s new A13 Bionic chip, which the company claims is the most power-efficient chip it has created to date.
Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max is slated for release September 20, starting at $1099 USD, and pre-orders are already being taken. For now, check out the full disassembly video above.
