The series of xenophobic attacks in South Africa carried out against Nigerians has led to attacks on Shoprite retail outlets in Nigeria, owned by South Africans, Afriupdate reports.
This news medium understands that the first to be attacked was the Shoprite at Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos State. Angry protesters stormed the mall yesterday and vandalized the building, making away with valuable goods.

The mob action saw the death of a young man who was allegedly shot dead by policemen drafted to restore order at the location.
Shortly after, reports stated that the Shoprite at Ikeja City Mall was shut down due to a build up of protesters trying to replicate what took place at Lekki.
The video seen below shows the damage done to the Surulere Mall in Lagos as protesters made their way in while attempting to reach the Shoprite retail outlet.

In Abuja, efforts by policemen who fired tear-gas prevented protesters from carrying out an attack on Shoprite.
The protesters, however, stood their ground and made a bonfire before proceeding to burn down an MTN billboard.

So far, the Shoprite retail outlets in Lekki, IKeja, Surulere and the one in Abuja have been attacked by angry Nigerians in retaliation to the xenophobic attacks suffered by their brothers in South Africa.
