As part of Virgil Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition at MCA Chicago, the “Church & State” pop-up store has been dropping apparel and accessory collections over the duration of the show. This time, four new Off-White™ bags have been announced. The previous drop incorporated prints from Renaissance paintings, featured in the Mona Lisa hoodie and Caravaggio and Bernini T-shirts. For this drop, designs were taken from the ‘Culture Wall’ in the exhibition space for a unique opportunity to wear art from the show.
The three MCA-exclusive bags include the “Caravaggio,” “Lines,” “Caravaggio XL,” and “Lines XL” bags. The Caravaggio leather flap bag is printed with the Italian painter’s The Entombment of Christ, a work that depicts Christ’s body placed in a tomb by Nicodemus, Saint John the Evangelist, Mary Magdalene, Mary of Cleophas and the Virgin Mary. The bag is finished with black metal hardware, a binder clip hangtag and two interior pockets. The Lines Bag is printed with bright orange and white checkered lines that cover the entire body and handle strap. While the flap bag and handle strap are made of leather, the cross-body strap is an industrial polyamide and polyester belt woven in a checkered pattern with Off-White™ branding.
Like the smaller Caravaggio bag, the Caravaggio XL bag is printed with the same painting, but in a cropped, half-tone version. The bag includes a zippered white clutch and a detachable strap. The Lines flap bag is also available in the larger, XL size.
The Caravaggio and Lines bags are available for $1,275 USD, while the Caravaggio XL and Lines XL bags can be purchased for $3,445 USD in the “Church & State” pop-up store at MCA Chicago. Shop previous drops from the exhibition on MCA Chicago’s web store.
