Okada riders and policemen attached to the Area G command engaged in a clash in the Ogba area of Lagos on Friday leading to the death of two okada riders.
The Ogba Okada riders’ clash with police officers resulted in unrest in the area causing residents and traders to scampered for safety as gunshots rented the air.
A shop owner in Ogba who chooses to remain anonymous said the clash began on Friday morning when a police officer refused to pay for the service rendered to him by an Okada rider.
The eyewitness said the Okada rider insisted on collecting a fee for the ride after which the yet-to-be-identified policeman shot the motorcyclist.
Another was shot during the ensuing protest. These deepened the face-off and led to the violence that got people running for safety.
Other colleagues heard the information and tried their best to invade the Area G Police Station in Ogba but were repelled by officers who were on site.
