Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, yesterday, identified unity and peace as major achievements of the state since its creation 46 years ago.
He appealed to the people of the state to keep living in peace and harmony and continue to work for a strong and indivisible state.
While commemorating the 46th anniversary of its creation, he noted that only an atmosphere of peace, devoid of insecurity could engender socio-economic and infrastructure development.
Abiodun, who stated this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Kunle Somorin, congratulating the people on the anniversary and urged them to use the occasion to pray for the development and progress of the state.
“We are one people with great potential and we must continue to unite for a common purpose. We should eschew all acts capable of breaching the peace our state has enjoyed over the years, as there won’t be development in an atmosphere devoid of love, peace and security,” he said.
He, however, warned those fanning the embers of discord to have a rethink, reiterating his administration would not fold its arms and allow unscrupulous elements to hinder the progress Ogun had recorded in the last 31 months.
The governor enjoined visitors and investors in Ogun to mix freely with the people and enjoy the hospitality of the state, while going about their lawful businesses.
