Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi on Thursday met with Raychelle Omamo, Kenya’s cabinet secretary for foreign affairs in Mombasa during his two-day stay in the East African country.
Omamo started the opening speech by tracing back China-Kenya relations. She said the relationship between China and Kenya will continue to accelerate and noted that Kenya looks forward to working with China in the post-COVID-19 era.
Wang said Kenya has achieved encouraging progress. “Some countries didn’t make contributions to Kenyan development but point fingers”, Wang said, adding China is willing to work together with Kenya to jump out of the poverty trap.
Wang’s visit to Kenya is part of his three-nation tour of Africa. Prior to arriving in Kenya, he visited Eritrea. He is also scheduled to visit Comoros after completing his tour of Kenya.
