
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a mini-cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, moving three ministers to new positions.
In the changes, Monica Juma has been moved from the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of Energy, Charles Keter moved from the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Devolution and Eugene Wamalwa moved from the Ministry of Devolution to the Ministry of Defense.
This is the second time within two years that the president has appointed a new face to head the Ministry of Defense, having appointed Juma into the role in January 2020.
Margaret Kobia has retained her portfolio but has been added new duties in the new-look Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programs.
Four PSs have also been reassigned in the latest changes, with State Department for Public Works Principal Secretary Gordon O. Kihalangwa moved to Energy and replaced with Solomon Kitungu from the Transport Department.
Energy PS Joseph Njoroge has been moved to State Department for Transport while Nelson Marwa Sospeter is the new Principal Secretary for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programs.
A memo released by the Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, said the changes are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and institutionalizing the implementation of various ongoing reforms.
