Tanzania’s ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has declared 21 days of mourning following the death of former president, John Magufuli.
In addition, the party has suspended all party activities and said that all CCM flags will be flown at half-mast.
CCM’s Ideology and Publicity Secretary Mr. Humphrey Polepole added that the National Executive Committee (NEC) members will sit for a special session on Saturday March 20, 2021 at 8:00 pm to discuss the untimely death of the president and former party chairman.
Magufuli served as chair of Chama Cha Mapinduzi since 2016, after being elected president in 2015.
Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania Job Ndugai also asked Members of Parliament who were on a visit to inspect various development projects in their constituencies to return to Dodoma as soon as possible.
