As part of efforts to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in the State, Ebonyi State Government has instituted a special Anti Corona Taskforce, Afriupdate reports.
According to the leader of the taskforce, Mr. Nwiboko Chika, the Taskforce was instituted in order to ensure compliance with all the directives of the State Government amid the novel COVID-19 outbreak.
“All the traders in Ebonyi State both big and small have been asked to buy a bucket and hand sanitizer, they should keep these buckets in their shops with a sanitizer so that customers can wash their hands before and after transaction”. said Chika.
“Our mission is to make sure that traders comply to the directives of Ebonyi State Government in order to help fight the spread of the virus in the State”
“The State Government also ordered shutdown of all religious gathering and non essential markets in the state, that’s why we have been going to various churches and markets especially those within the State’s capital to ensure maximum compliance of government’s directives on the dos and don’ts of COVID-19 preventive measures”.
“Although, I thank God we have not recorded any case of COVID-19 in the state so far, but they said prevention is better than cure these measures are aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the state”. he added.
This online news medium had reported that Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi On Thursday earmarked N200m to cushion the effect of the hardship the people might experience during the shutdown period.
Governor Umahi also cautioned against hoarding of food, drugs and other essential goods and services within the state, adding that refusal to provide food items, drugs and other essential goods and services within the state to enable citizens to buy them shall constitute an offence.
He stated this in Abakaliki during the signing of the Ebonyi State Coronavirus Other Dangerous Infectious Diseases and Related Matters Law 005 of 2020 at the New Government House Complex, noting that his administration was all out to safeguard the people.
