LP’s Nnamani beats PDP candidate, clinches Reps seat
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, declared Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner of Saturday Abia South senatorial election.
The Returning Officer for Abia South National Assembly elections, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi, announced that Abaribe, who is a fourth term serving Senator, polled 49,903 votes to defeat the Labour Party candidate, Chinedu Onyeizu, who polled 43, 903 and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, with 28,422 votes.
She declared 108 votes as void due to irregularities.
According to her, the election, which had been declared inconclusive, was reversed when INEC Head Office directed that the results be announced.
Announcing the Aba South and Aba North Federal Constituency results, she said the Labour Party’s Emeka Nnamani polled 35,502 to beat Alex Ikwecheghi of APGA, who polled 22,465 votes and the incumbent, Chimaobi Ebisike of PDP, who scored 13,388 votes.
