Barely three days after two traditional rulers were killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen in Ekiti State, another suspected kidnappers last night invaded the palace of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, killing the traditional ruler of the town, General Segun Aremu (rtd). The assailants also went away with the deceased wife and two others.
The Guardian gathered that the incident happened at about 8:45p.m. Thursday night. already, the state government has confirmed the killing of the monarch and abduction of three others.
A statement issued by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye, last night said: “The governor condemns the killing of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government, General Segun Aremu (rtd).
“The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others.
“The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable,” he added.
The governor has therefore charged security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.
“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” he stated, offering his profound condolences to the people of Koro.
“Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” he said.
