Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the coming Lagos East Senatorial District bye-elections scheduled to hold on October 31, 2020, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru, has warned against the dangers of youth unemployment to the future of Nigeria.
Abiru, who spoke while addressing supporters at the APC campaign office in Somolu, yesterday, said that among the numerous challenges facing the nation, there was need to make concerted efforts to address youth unemployment.
He said that if elected as a senator, he would embark on aggressive and well-co-ordinated youths’ empowerment that would take several young ones across the Lagos senatorial district out of poverty and dependence level.
The former managing director of Polaris Bank, who promised to embark on serious and profitable youths and woman empowerment no sooner he becomes a senator, said if unemployment is appropriately tackled in Nigeria, more than half of the problems besetting the nation, including crime, banditry, cultism and other vices, would have ceased or drastically reduced.
Abiru also commended his predecessors who represented Lagos East in the upper chamber for what they did in area of empowerment, stressing that he would build and improve on the legacy they left. He, therefore, urged Lagos electorate to participate in elective democracy and take voting serious as they take their daily feeding.”
