The first batch of multi-functional classroom simulators from India, yesterday, arrived the Maritime Academy of Nigeria in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
Rector of the academy, Commodore Duja Effedua, said the simulators were expected to address sensitive training areas including liquid cargo handling, full mission ship handling and other areas of focus required in modern vessel operation in line with Standards of Training Certification and Watch-keeping (STCW10) as approved by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
He said the simulators were aimed at enhancing training capabilities of Nigeria’s premier maritime training institution. The simulators, which are expected to accommodate up to 30 cadets and their instructors, would take 20 different maritime- related training programmes and bridge training gap between Nigerians and other African countries.
