Protests constitutional, attack on gov condemnable, says Oyintiloye
Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday, paid a solidarity visit to his Osun State counterpart, Adegboyega Oyetola, over the attack on his convoy and the attempt on his life by armed thugs that infiltrated the ranks of the #EndSARS protesters in Osogbo, the state capital.
Akeredolu, therefore, appealed to the protesting youths to give government time, and possibly an ultimatum, to attend to their interests.
The Ondo governor, during the solidarity and “thank you” visit to Osogbo in the company of the Deputy Governor-elect of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, thanked Oyetola for standing solidly behind him during his re-election.
In his response, Oyetola thanked Akeredolu for the solidarity visit, congratulating him on the resounding victory at the recently concluded election.
Meanwhile, Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Civic Engagement, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said that Osun government is committed to protecting fundamental human rights of the citizens and will not for any reason infringe on the inalienable rights of the people, especially the youths.
Oyintiloye stated this, yesterday, while featuring on a Yoruba programme tagged “Koleda” at Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Osogbo.
Oyintiloye emphasised that Oyetola would not trample upon the liberty, freedom, and pursuit of goals by the well-meaning citizens of the state.
“The right to protest and peaceful demonstration is an integral component of a democracy through which civil rule is sustained and this is the profound tenet of Oyetola’s administration,” he stated.
