Biafra political activist and leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has vowed that the recent clashes between his members and Nigerian security forces in Oyigbo, Rivers State, “will not be without consequences”.
In fact, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu declared that “if Obigbo is not avenged, IPOB will cease to exist”.
Kanu made this affirmation on his known Facebook page on Wednesday 4th November, 2020.

Authorities say members of IPOB, banned in 2017 by the Federal Government of Nigeria – targeted security operatives in Oyigbo as tensions spilled over following the #EndSARS protests against police brutality in the country.
IPOB is canvassing for the secession and sovereignty of Eastern Nigeria.
Oyigbo is believed to be an IPOB l stronghold.
Two police stations and a hospital in the area were burnt on 21 October as widespread mayhem erupted after protesters against police brutality were shot at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.

Encouraged by their leader Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB members are accused of attacking security operatives in eastern Nigeria.
Clashes with the army in Abia state spilled over into the neighbouring Oyigbo town in Rivers state.
IPOB members are accused of burning down three police stations in the area and killing three policemen after one of them was killed during a protest at a police station in Oyigbo.
