Simon Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reacted to reports of suspension of the sit-at-home order.
Kanunta, brother to the embattled IPOB leader, had announced the suspension of the directive.
He had explained that the decision was due to the National Examination Council, NECO, examination for junior secondary schools.
Kanunta had said a new date for the protest would be communicated later.
However, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful dismissed Kanunta’s remark, stressing that the scheduled Monday’s sit-at-home order is sacrosanct.
IPOB had issued the directive as a measure to push for Kanu’s release.
The group had said the sit-at-home would be enforced every Monday until Kanu is released.
Reacting, Ekpa corroborated Powerful’s remark that the directive stands.
Ekpa, in a series of tweets, said the Southeast would be locked down on Monday.
According to Ekpa: “The tomorrow sit at home order has not been cancelled. Disregard fake news circulating on social media. Tomorrow, we will lock down Biafraland. -SE
“We will lockdown the entire SouthEast tomorrow being 9th of August 2021. It is called Ghost Town! Other Biafrans in other states are expected to join this sit at home order.”
