Militants of the Boko Haram insurgent group have sent “a strong message” by abducting and executing five humanitarian workers in Borno State.
The victims were en route Monguno from Maiduguri when they were waylaid by the insurgents on 29 June 2020.
One of the members of the group, in a 34-second video, said, in Hausa, that the group was sending “a strong message to those who support infidels.”
The militant said, in the video, “This is a strong message to those who are being used by unbelievers to convert people to infidels… those who are working for the organisations of disbelievers,” one of the Boko Haram fighters said.
“You work for them to achieve their goals but they do not care about you that is the reason when we abducted you, they showed no care. We are calling on you to repent and turn to God.

“For those of you remaining, we will surely get you… we know the routes you follow. If you do not desist, you’ll end just like these people too.”
Moments after the video, five of the militant group shot the workers dead.
The northern part of the country, especially in the northeastern part, has been besieged by incessant attacks from the Boko Haram group, claiming thousands of lives.
