Umahi Lift Okada Ban – The Ebonyi State Governor Chief Dave Nweze Umahi has lifted the ban on Commercial motorcycle operation popularly known as Okada within the capital city and also relaxed the curfew imposed on the state between 7pm and 7am in the last one week.
Governor Umahi made the disclosure during a statewide broadcast on the update of preventive measures taken by the State government to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

The Governor stated that the lifting of the ban on Okada operation and the relaxing on the curfew followed the level of corporation by citizens of the state and announced that the ban still continues within 300 meters away from the different boundaries in the state.
Umahi Lift Okada Ban – He maintained that the ban on Religious activities and shutdown of drinking joints in that state continues adding that the World Health Organization WHO stipulates that opening on drinking joints exposes the people to dangers of contracting the virus.
The Ebonyi State Governor also urged citizens of the state to still exercise little patient with the state government as his administration is posed in ensuring that the state does not record another index case.
He noted that the first index case patient who is currently at the Isolation centre at the Unity Square Abakaliki is receiving the needed attention adding that apart from the patient, 2 police officer and 4 members of the state neighbourhood Watch that effected the arrest of the patient have been isolated at the centre.
He called on the people of the state especially tradituonal rulers to educate their subjects not to attempt going out of the state as it endangers their lives adding that those arrested while making effort to return would be kept at the holding area.
The Governor used the forum to call on the media practitioners in the state to partner with the state government adding that the faceoff between him and some journalist has been resolved.
Umahi, who described the immediate faceoff between him and journalists in the state, as a case of ‘a father and his son issue assured that his administration would continue to work with journalist.
The Governor, called on the media community and Nigerians to disregard what happened, stressing that both his government and the media were partners in progress.
Umahi said, “I have said that the unfortunate incident with press was not intentional but I am asking everybody to disregard what has happened.
“This is because we are all partners in progress and let us work together. But I will advise that you please cross check information. There are certain write-ups that people are not happy about and that is why I said please let everybody down tools in love and work together.
“I specifically asked that The SUN and Vanguard reporters be invited to this broadcast; as a father when you beat a child with one hand, you bring the child back with another hand.
“I believe strongly that if anybody wants to intentionally bring you down, he can’ t pull you down standing; he will certainly go down with you. And you may even rise above him. But the single way to be happy in life is to be happy with success.

“I want to invite the press for partnership and also ask them to also please help build the state. Nobody said you should do preferential reporting. Nobody said you should not report the truth or report falsehood because our state is peculiar. Everybody has forgotten what happened let’s work together.”.
