The government of Egypt will be deporting seven Nigerians for protesting without a permit during the End SARS protest last month.
Eight of the Nigerians were arrested by the Egyptian authority in Cairo, however, the Nigerian with resident permit will not be deported according to the Chairman Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri.
It would be recalled that the commission on the 19th of October had issued a statement confirming the arrest of 8 Nigerians, 4 male and 4 female by the Egyptian government.
Dabiri in a tweet announced the 7 detained protesters will be deported due to lack of resident permit, while the remaining one has signed undertaken not to break Egyptian laws.
“Update on the 8 Nigerians detained in Cairo for protesting without a permit, 7 of them are to be deported to Nigeria for lack of resident permits. The only one that has Residency will get final clearance from the Minister of Interior.
“After signing an undertaking not go against the laws of Egypt, the Nigerian mission in Egypt is still appealing for leniency on behalf of the seven slated for deportation.”
