The Association Against Child Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Nigeria (AACSGBV) has launched a survivors’ network and a national referral team for victims of gender-based violence (GBV).
National Coordinator of the association, Ambassador Eris Obi, said in Abuja at the weekend the group was concerned about the rising rape cases, intimidation of women, defilement and incest in the country.
She said: “The vision of the association is to create an effective, coordinated and comprehensive response that promotes human rights, reduce inequalities and mitigate all forms of gender-based violence and call on husbands and organisations to synergize to provide support for vulnerable women, protect the rights of children for sustainable development.”
Deputy President, Nigerian Medical and Health Workers Union (NMHW), Kabiru Ado, called for the elimination of sexual and gender-based violence.
The coalition is made up of civil society organisations (CSOs).
