The former Chairman of Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) Sam Ohuabunwa has revealed that electing an Igbo President will put an end to the agitation for Biafra.
Making this revelation during the inauguration of the New Nigeria Group (NNG) in Abuja on Wednesday, Ohuabunwa announced his intention to vie for the country’s presidency seat.
According to Ohuabunwa, the NNG would be a vehicle to ensure unity in the country.
“Every Nigerian who wants unity must support the power shift,” he said. “Igbo presidency will stop Biafra agitation which asks for equity, fairness and freedom. Even other agitation will stop.”
Ohuabunwa stated that God had placed it in his heart to contest for the office of the President of Nigeria.
Further stating that the Igbos must present their best to ensure that they actualize the agitation for Igbo presidency in 2023, the ex-NESG boss said “I am making myself available. It must not be me, but an Igbo of character. Ndigbo must present their best.
Also, Ohuabunwa pointed out that the country posses the fundamentals needed for transformation, but lacked enlightened, progressive, sacrificing leadership elite, which his newly established group is prepared to provide.
There has been a clamour for Igbo presidency in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.
The intensity of the agitation for Igbo Presidency is believed to be the reason behind the decision of Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
While there is disagreement amongst political elites and political parties as to zoning their presidential tickets to South-East at the 2023 presidential election, many believe that the South-East region should produce the next president of the country, as the region has not assumed the position in time past.
