Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, has solicited the support of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Nigeria chapter, to achieve an Open Defecation-Free society by 2025.
Adamu, who said this yesterday in Abuja when the society’s president, Ajose Otinwa, visited him, added that Nigeria would take a cue from the Indian government that wanted to end open defecation in five years.
Otinwa, while congratulating the minister on his re-appointment, commended the recently signed Executive Order 009 on Open Defecation.
He explained that the order would help improve the healthy living standards of Nigerians by eliminating water and environmental pollution, calling for an improvement in water management in the country.
