N-Power June Stipend – The Federal Government’s social intervention scheme, N-Power has broken silence on the alleged ‘looting of beneficiary funds’.
Afriupdate recalls that the N-Power stipends for June 2020 has not been paid to the disengaged Batch A and B beneficiaries by the Federal Government with no reason given for the delay.
The development has left many of the N-Power beneficiaries displeased.
Meanwhile, this online news medium reports that N-Power has debunked claims that funds meant for N-power beneficiaries have been looted while responding to an applicant who had asked about the funds meant for the beneficiaries of the social intervention scheme of the Federal Government on their official micro-blogging site, Twiter.
N-Power June Stipend – As seen below, the applicant named Omoragbon Cosmos wrote: “Npower, I learnt that our accrued money has been looted by our despicable leaders. How true.”
N-Power replied saying: “Hi sir. No one has access to your funds. You are paid straight from the Treasury Single Account.”

In other news, the N-Power scheme said that the registration portal for 2020 Batch C which began Friday, 26th June 2020 is still on.
According to Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development of Nigeria, over 4.48 million Nigerian youths have applied in the ongoing recruitment.

The N-Power programme was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 under the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) with the aim to empower citizens through capacity building, investment, and direct support.

The government said the N-Power scheme enrolled about 500,000 beneficiaries – 200,000 from Batch A (September 2016) and 300,000 from Batch B (August 2018). The graduate enrollees are placed on a monthly stipend of N30, 000. Both batches are now outgoing.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development continue to face criticisms over its handling of projects that involve the disbursement of cash.
