The Beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s social investment N-Power scheme have already started receiving stipend payment for the month of May 2020, Afriupdate reports.
This was confirmed by a graduate beneficiary of the scheme, who shared the update with this online news medium on Tuesday morning disclosed that May allowance was paid very early in the day.
Five other beneficiaries, who all do not want to be named, also told this reporter that May payment has been settled.
Afriupdate learnt that Its the first time since Sadiya Farouq took over National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) reigns that ₦30,000 monthly stipends was paid promptly.
We had reported that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq on Saturday disclosed plans by the ministry to streamline the entire programme for better efficiency as soon as it pays May stipend.
She added the action would also provide opportunities for other beneficiaries to enroll into the programme.
About 200,000 young beneficiaries selected in 2016, under Batch A, were to have been dropped out of the scheme after two years of internship.
Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria has vowed to disengage about 500,000 beneficiaries of the Nigeria’s social investment N-Power programme.
Rhoda Iliya, the current engagement, spokesperson for the humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development ministry, made the announcement on Thursday in a press statement in response to the administration’s vision of lifting 100 million people out of poverty by creating opportunities to enhance the productivity of the Nigerian youth.
