The fresh verification of N-Power beneficiaries ordered by the Nigerian government last week has closed, Afriupdate understands.
It would be recalled that on October 6th, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development directed Batches A and B Beneficiaries of the N-Power Programme who were earlier omitted from payment of their stipends to report to their various State Focal Persons for verification and re-validation.
A statement by Nneka Ikem Anibeze, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Minister Sadiya Farouq stated that the deadline for verification is Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
According to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, “beneficiaries who fail to attend the verification exercise will forfeit their stipends.”
The N-Power is a programme designed by the Nigerian government to address the challenge of youth unemployment by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy.
The volunteers are paid ₦30,000 (approximately 77.41896 USD) monthly as stipends and given tablet computers to aid further learning.

According to authorities in Nigeria, a huge part of the famed N-Power scheme’s design is the up-skilling of beneficiaries.
“Beneficiaries gain experience on the job while also learning intangible yet important soft skills in the work environment,” the National Social Investment Office (NSIO) says.
