On the occasion of Nigeria’s Independence Day 2020, the 36-state representatives of N-Power volunteers plus the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday expressed its hope that President Muhammadu Buhari will sanction their absorption into the federal civil service, Afriupdate reports.
It would be recalled that Batch A Npower beneficiaries exited the programme on June 30 after four years in the famed scheme, while their Batch B counterparts officially made their exit on July 31st – after two years.
Meanwhile, these Nigerian youths were disengaged from the N-Power scheme by the Federal Government without being paid their outstanding/stipends for the month of July. Plus, they are currently in the dark regarding their exit/transition package.

In a statement signed by Kabiru Aliyu Pelemi, the National President of N-Power Beneficiaries, which was sighted by this online news medium, the exited beneficiaries continued their call for permanency.
“It is obvious that we have suffered a lot of emotional and psychological damages in the past years,” the statement by the 36 States and FCT N-Power Representatives’ Forum reads.
“It is factual that we have been disappointed in many ways by our leaders.
“It is a pragmatic fact that we have made so many sacrifices, with so many promises yet disappointed. The good thing is that we are still together.
“We have discovered our strengths and identified our weaknesses.
“We are stronger than ever before.
“The diversity in us is to our advantage, only if we can utilize it.
“We have the age, we have the number and we have the strength.
“We still believe the administration of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari means well for us and we shall get that which we deserve – absorbed into the civil service and other agencies having served for many years.
“We shall not allow few strangers to poison our minds towards achieving what is meant for us.
“We must stay united and pray for Nigeria. On our current agitation for permanent jobs, we shall not relent until it is achieved.
“Please, let us remain calm as we await Mr President’s kind gesture towards the volunteers and the Nigerian youth at large.
“Let us stay at home and enjoy our Independence Day celebration at home, even without stipends for us, without jobs in our hands, and without foods on our table. It is almost all over.
“We are educated, we are coordinated and we are industrious. We believe in dialogue and peaceful demonstration.
“We know our government understands this message deeper than we sent it and they will not construe our patriotism and loyalty for stupidity.
