Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed 23 new cases of coronavirus.
“Twenty-three new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Lagos, 7 in the FCT, 5 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Bauchi State,” NCDC said on Twitter on Wednesday night.
“As at 08:00 pm 1st April there are 174 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.”
Of the 174 confirmed cases, Lagos state has 91, FCT has 35, and Osun State has 14.
Oyo has eight cases, Ogun, Kaduna and Edo have four cases each, while Bauchi has three. Enugu and Ekiti has two cases.
Rivers and Benue states have recorded one case each while Akwa-Ibom has five cases.
Ekiti index case was discharged earlier on Tuesday afternoon. The country has two coronavirus deaths. Both patients, NCDC said, have underlying medical conditions.
Lagos State, Ogun State, and the capital city Abuja have been shut down since Monday night, a move by the Nigerian government to contain the spread of the dreaded virus.
Some other states have also set up some measures to curb the spread.
So far, three state governors and President Muhammadu Buhari Chief of State Abba Kyari are among the people infected by the virus.
