The police in Ogun State have arrested a 20-year-old man, Semiu Shobakin, for theft and illegal possession of firearms.
The suspect was arrested on August 13, in Odeda area of the state.
The Guardian gathered that the suspect was brought to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Odeda by one comrade Ojerinde Opeoluwa ‘m’, of Agbekoya Solidarity Movement of Nigeria.
Confirming the development, spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Omotola Odutola, yesterday, said the suspect was in possession of a dismantled and unregistered Bajaj motorcycle, one single barrel gun, two dane guns, and one Tiger generator set.
According Odutola, the suspect was not able to give meaningful answers to the questions put across to him by the DPO of Odeda, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Waheed Oni, to ascertain how the items got to his possession.
“The suspect only muttered that one Mathew, with surname yet unknown, brought the items to him. Until he is able to state accurately the source of the items, the matter will be transfered to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for discreet investigation.
