Rivers State Police Command have arrested a herbalist and two male adults for the killing of a nine-year-old boy, identified as Destiny Peter at Azumini Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The trio of Kenneth Sylvanus, 24, Chibuzor Amadi, 33, and a herbalist, Chijioke Ogbonnah, 37, were apprehended for allegedly beheading and dismembering Peter’s body for ritual purposes.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, who explained that the police had, through intelligence gathering, unravelled the identity of Amadi, who was immediately arrested and upon interrogation, took the police to an uncompleted building in Azumini Isiokpo, where Sylvanus was arrested.
Omoni said the suspects were taken to Isiokpo Area Command and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
It would be recalled that on November 11, 2021, Peter was declared missing by his aunt, who contacted the Police and the community youths, whereupon a search was launched, leading to the recovery of the headless body in the bush the following day.
Omoni explained that further investigation at the state CID led its men to immediately trace the bush, where the dismembered head of the deceased was recovered behind an uncompleted building.
