The Anambra State Governor-elect, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dedicated his victory at the just-concluded gubernatorial election to the three policemen who were gunned down during a town hall meeting in his hometown.
Soludo escaped death on March, 31, 2021, when unknown gunmen stormed the venue of their a town hall meeting in his hometown of Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of the state during which three police officers lost their lives and a commissioner in the state was kidnapped.
Speaking on Wednesday morning after he was declared winner of the governorship poll, the former Central Bank governor said his victory calls for the remembrance of the slain officers.
Soludo, who prayed for the souls of the officers to continue to rest with the Lord, also lauded the Federal Government for allowing the people of Anambra State to make their choices during the election.
“At this moment, we must remember and must continue to remember all those who died during the course of this moment, especially the three policemen who were killed by unknown gunmen during our town hall meeting with youths in my ward. May God continue to grant their soul eternal rest.
“The election itself tested the integrity of our federal institutions. Many times there were tensions, especially as one party boasted that it must take or ‘conquer’ but the judiciary stood for the integrity of the judiciary”, he said.
