A video showing Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, ordering the arrest of some police officers and residents for violating the lockdown orders has surfaced online.
This is coming barely 48 hours after a deputy commissioner of police was alleged by Governor Nyesom Wike of sabotaging the efforts of the government in checking the spread of Coronavirus in Rivers state.
Afriupdate News had earlier reported that in a bid to curtail the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in the state, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Monday announced a 24-hour total lockdown and a dusk-dawn curfew on Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.
In the video, Governor Wike can be seen moving around with security men as they effect the arrest.
Some persons were later freed by the Governor after checking the documents they presented while vehicles of some persons were seized by the security men attached to the governor.
Police officers who accompanied some vehicles were also arrested and transported down to the isolation centre.

Recall that governor Wike on Sunday oversaw the demolition of a hotel and a bar over the violation of the current lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.
The affected hotels are Prodest Hotel in Alode and Etemeteh Hotel in Onne both in Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
