Former presidential candidate, Adamu Garba has said Twitter was suspended because its the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB’s online machine.
Garba, made this known in an interview on Channels TV monitored by Afriupdate News on Friday night, he expressed happiness that the Federal government suspended the popular social media platform.
He also alleged that a website is an online machine for the proscribed pro-secessionist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
In his words; “Twitter is behind them. I think Twitter is like a kind of IPOB online machine because what they do more is supporting IPOB much more than the government.
Everyone knows that IPOB is anti-Nigeria, their target is to destroy Nigeria”.
Garba also accused the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of supporting the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“We have the President of the WTO, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is she part of those instigating Twitter? why won’t she call them to order when they attacking against Nigeria?. Why is it we didn’t get a single tweet from Dr. Ngozi Okonkjo-Iweala about the activities of Twitter? is she supporting IPOB? These are the kind of things we need to investigate,” he said.
He added that he’s happy that Twitter was suspended because it’s an anti-Nigerian force that is seeking for destruction of Nigeria than actually a platform for freedom of expression.
Afriupdate recalls that Adamu Garba during the #Endsars protest on October 2020, asked a federal high court in Abuja to ban Twitter from operating in any part of the country.
Garba accused the chief executive officer and co-founder of Twitter Jack Dorsey and Twitter International Company of “sponsoring” the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
Garba asked the court to give “an order directing the 7th Respondent to stop the operation of Twitter Int’l Company in any part of the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“AN ORDER directing the 8th and 9th respondents jointly to pay the applicant the sum of USD 1 Billion as damages.”
In a related story, the chairman Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari over the suspension of the micro-blogging website, Twitter.
The Ekiti State Governor described whoever advised President Buhari to take the step as his biggest enemy.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed had announced the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.
He stated that the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria space is not justifiable by argument after the micro-blogging site removed a dangerous, irresponsible and insensitive tweet by the President.
Governor Fayemi on his verified Twitter account berated the federal government on the development and defined the action as an “indefensible move”.
He tweeted, “Suspending @Twitter from Nigeria simply because they removed a dangerous, irresponsible & insensitive tweet by @MBuhari is the most absurd and counterproductive move that the FG could have made.
“Whoever advised Mr President to make this indefensible move is his biggest enemy,” he said.
