Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka as seen in a video below sighted by Afriupdate News graced the burial ceremony of his colleague and pioneer members of the National Association of Sea Dogs popularly known as Pyrates Confraternity (PC).
Pyrates Confraternity a brotherhood society in Nigeria that is by name University-based. Seven young intellectual men called “Magnificent Seven” set up the association in 1952 at University College Ibadan now known as the University of Ibadan.
Presently, the Pyrates confraternity is located in all the southern states in Nigeria and also has branches in some parts of the world including the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States.
Some sinister confraternities have been formed to copy the Pyrates confraternity which led the Pyrates confraternity to dissociate itself from these organizations and also operate outside university campuses.
The group motto is “against all odds” while its symbol is a human skull and crossbones. Their adopted colors are red, yellow, and black.
As see in the video, a member of the Pyrates Confraternity, Nathaniel Oyelola was been laid to rest who recently joined his ancestor.
Late Nathaniel was born in 1929 died in year 2021. His funeral rites was held on Thursday, 27 May 2021 at All Saints Church, Jerico, Ibadan, Oyo state.
The Late Nathaniel Olufemi Oyelola is one of the Magnificent Seven who found Pyrates Confraternity.
The magnificent seven were Nathaniel Oyelola, Wole Soyinka, Muyiwa Awe, Pius Oleghe, Sylvanus Egbuchie, Ralph Opara, Ikpehare Aig – Imooukhuede.
