Social media giants Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are all currently unavailable to users worldwide.
We’re getting error warnings on all three services in iOS apps, Android and on the web. Error messages such as “Sorry, something went wrong,”, “5xx Server Error,” and others are displayed to users.
According to data from Downdetector and user comments on Twitter, the outage is affecting every Facebook-owned platform, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger but it’s unclear if it impacts all users or just some locations.
The services are currently unavailable in some countries like Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, and others. The problem appears to be related to a DNS issue affecting Facebook servers.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Facebook app,” the company said on Twitter. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
