The Katsina State Police Command reports that it has seized 185 sealed packages of cannabis sativa, also known as Indian hemp, and has detained a 58-year-old man who is thought to be in possession of the evidence.
Two suspected terrorists were also neutralized by the operatives of the command, according to SP Gambo Isah, the state police spokesperson, who made the announcement in a statement on Sunday in Katsina.
According to reliable intelligence, the command was able to apprehend Abdulrazak Ajibade, age 58, who was in possession of suspected Indian hemp today, September 4, 2022, at around 4 p.m.
“Ajibade, a resident of Kwara state’s Offa Local Government Area (LGA), was detained while driving a maroon Volkswagen with the license plate JBY 311 AA along the Katsina-Dutsinma route.
“During the course of the investigation, 185 neatly packaged packages of dried leaves that were found inside the car were fairly believed to be made of Indian hemp.
The suspect has admitted to committing the crime and is helping the police with their inquiries, according to a police spokesperson.
Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi-Tafashiya, 60, of Kankia LGA was attacked at home on Sunday by 11 terrorists riding motorcycles and carrying AK-47 rifles, the command received a distress call on Sunday, the speaker continued. They kidnapped him and took him to an undisclosed location.
When the DPO in that region received the report, he sent a tactical team to the area and stopped the thugs near Juga village, according to SP Isah.
“The team fought the thugs in a bloody gunfight and repulsed them. The abducted person was found unharmed.
Two terrorists were neutralized while the site was being scanned, and one of their functioning motorcycles was found. Investigation is ongoing.”
