Poly workers suspend strike

Workers of the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, have suspended the industrial action they embarked on some weeks ago following the issue of relocation and other matters.

According to a statement signed by the chairman of the institution’s Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Dr. Desmond Echeta, the chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Frank Ohagwam, and his Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) counterpart, Bede Asika, said suspension of the strike took immediate effect.

It reads: “Arising from an emergency meeting held on June 7 to 10, 2019 by all the unions in Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo, the unions have unanimously resolved to suspend the ongoing indefinite strike in the polytechnic with immediate effect.”
