Mount was already given the armband in the FA Cup game against Luton Town.
Terry is confident that the 22-year-old will be wearing it on a regular basis both for the club and the country.
The Chelsea legend believes that Mount has both the quality and the leadership qualities the role requires.
“Mason Mount is 100 per cent future Chelsea captain,” John Terry said during his Instagram Live session.
“He’s been the best player at Chelsea this season, to be honest. He’s a great lad, trains unbelievably well, is Chelsea through and through and shows leadership qualities. In my mind, he’ll be Chelsea and England captain.”
Mason Mount already wore the captain’s armband for the Blues once: in Frank Lampard’s last game in charge, the 22-year-old led the team for a 3-1 win over Luton Town.
Despite some concerns over his playing time under Thomas Tuchel, Mount has quickly regained a starting XI place and played 90 minutes in each of the last 2 games. He’s made an appearance in every game since December 8 – it’s quite likely he’ll be rested against Barnsley.
