Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been placed in Pot 2 ahead of the draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the pots on Thursday.
Other teams also placed in Pot 2 alongside the Super Eagles are Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, Burkina, Ghana and DR Congo.
This means the Super Eagles could be in the same group with hosts Côte d’Ivoire, AFCON champions Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt or Morocco.
South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania are in Pot 3, while Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Gambia and Tanzania are in Pot 4.
The draw for the 2023 AFCON will be held in Abidjan on October 12.
The 24 teams that qualified for next year’s tournament will be drawn into six groups of four.
At the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, the Super Eagles reached the round of 16 where they lost 1-0 to Tunisia.
