There are much better players in our roster these days.
Sergio Busquets
Despite a solid outing against Cadiz a few weeks ago, the 32-year-old is clearly a third-choice option after Frenkie de Jong and Miralem Pjanic in the pecking order of Barca’s holding midfielders.
The thing that backs this point is Pjanic’s showing against Real Valladolid – the Bosnian was brilliant both in defence and in support, contributing a lot to Barca’s convincing victory.
Philippe Coutinho
Unfortunately, it’s time for the skillful Brazilian to make way for younger players. Coutinho looks bleak on the left-hand side and clearly loses competition to Pedri in the attacking midfield. There’s no other place for him in Ronald Koeman’s tactical plans, so he should be our impact sub in the next few games at least.
Antoine Griezmann
The Frenchman’s defensive contribution is immense but it’s not worth putting him into the starting eleven all the time. At the moment, Martin Braithwaite looks like a more promising option up front while the attacking-midfield spot is occupied by Pedri.
Sure, Griezmann could also start on the left-hand side but with Ousmane Dembele coming back, this would be a dubious decision.
Reminder of Barca’s next 3 games:

- Huesca vs Barcelona – La Liga – January 3
