Manchester United will collide against Tottenham tomorrow night and they are once again linked with Spurs’ top quality star, Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for quite some time. The Red Devils even wanted to lure him in the summer (AS) but the playmaker eventually stayed with the north Londoners (The Metro).
Last month, The Metro claimed that Man Utd are keen on luring the former Ajax man and are willing to splash the cash to hire his services in January. The latest reports going on in the media are interesting.
According to The Telegraph, the 27-year-old has made the decision to not renew his deal at Tottenham and the £50million+ rated star would be willing to leave in the winter transfer window.
Eriksen has not started under the management of new boss Jose Mourinho as yet and it must be remembered that he was an unused substitute in the last PL game against Bournemouth. It seems that the the Portuguese manager does not have the Danish star in his plans and therefore, it will not come as any surprise to see him leave in the middle of the campaign.
Ideally, Spurs would also like to sell him next month to get some cash from his departure as his contract with the club will expire in the summer.
The Athletic have also talked about the player’s desire to move away from the last season’s Champions League finalists and he could join Manchester United. Mourinho is reportedly interested in luring Matic from the Red Devils and in such a scenario it is stated that even a Matic-Eriksen swap is feasible.
Christian Eriksen is a PL proven playmaker, who has the quality and experience needed to improve Man Utd’s attacking department that seriously lacks quality and depth. In such a scenario, Woodward should press to secure his signature.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in January?
