Serie A giants AC Milan are working on a deal to sign Nigerian international, Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal before the end of the ongoing summer transfer window.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Thursday disclosed that Milan is planning to first complete the signing of Christian Pulisic from Chelsea which is getting closer.
“AC Milan and Christian Pulisic, getting closer. After personal terms agreed and player pushing since last week, clubs now close to agreeing on the fee,” Romano tweeted.
“€22m second bid submitted and talks progressing to final stages. Milan keep working on Samuel Chukwueze deal too.”
Chukwueze is said to have moved a step closer to completing a summer move to Milan after the Super Eagles attacker reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian giants.
Milan’s chief coach, Stefano Pioli, had personally called Chukwueze to convince him to move to the Serie A club, according to Sky Italy.
Also, the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Chukwueze had emerged as the favorite candidate to become Milan’s new right winger for the next season.
He is expected to cost Milan between €25 million and €30m and given Chukwueze only has one year to go on his contract at Villarreal, there should be a desire from the Spanish side to sell.
According Gazzette Dello Sport, there have been positive discussions and personal agreements between the Nigerian winger and Milan.
The Nigeria U-17 World Cup winner had an unprecedented season for the Yellow Submarine last season which also turned out to be his most productive for the Yellow Submarine.
The 24-year-old scored 13 goals and provided a further 11 assists in 51 matches, helping Villarreal to a fifth placed finish as they also booked a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
