- Both Arteta and Ancelotti are candidates to take over at the Emirates permanently.
- However, the Spaniard is now the frontrunner of the race as the Italian edges closer to Everton.
- Some of Arsenal players have raised concerns over the ex-Gunner becoming next permanent.
According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal’s ‘established pros’ have voiced concerns over a potential appointment of Mikel Arteta. They doubt he has the expertise to build a new identity as he lacks experience.
At the same time, they reckon Carlo Ancelotti, who has won 15 major honours throughout his career including the Premier League with Chelsea, is a much more appropriate candidate for the job, adds the report.
It is understood that the Italian is inches away from sealing a deal with Everton. The ex-Napoli boss is expected to be announced by the Toffees before Saturday’s clash against Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the latest rumours and news indicate that Mikel Arteta’s appointment seems to be imminent. Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and club lawyer Huss Fahmy were spotted leaving Mikel Arteta’s house in Didsbury early on Monday morning.
According to The Athletic, the 37-year-old has already informed Manchester City of holding talks with Arsenal.
