A report in Spain claims that Paris Saint-Germain are “negotiating an agreement” with Arsenal in an attempt to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for around €38 million, reports football365.com.
Speculation over Aubameyang’s future has ramped up in recent months, with the Gabon international approaching the final year of his contract at The Emirates.
Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been previously linked with a move but French champions, PSG, have also emerged as contenders in recent weeks.
Earlier reports suggested that PSG were growing confident of beating their European rivals to Aubameyang’s signature and, according to Todofichajes, they have got serious with their approach.
The source says that Arsenal and PSG are deep into negotiations over an agreement and “figures close to €38m” are being floated by the two clubs. It is added that while Aubameyang is “very attracted” to the prospect of playing alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, his preference would be a move to the Spanish capital with Madrid.
PSG are looking for additions up top with Edinson Cavani set to leave next month at the end of his contract and the French club have also reportedly made a bid to sign Mauro Icardi on a permanent basis.
The 27-year-old moved to Paris from Inter Milan on loan last summer and has impressed, with PSG making a £44.7million bid for him.As for Arsenal, Todofichajes claims that the Gunners are looking to gain “economic muscle” in order to spend money on new signings. The north Londoners – like most clubs – are expected to scale back their spending plans when the transfer window re-opens.
