Cesar Azpilicueta’s reported move to Barcelona is complicated, according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law.
Chelsea are planning to hold talks with the Spaniard after the Nations League break to determine if he’d leave the club or not.
However, it is believed that the Blues may end up keeping him for two main reasons:
1. The new owners would want some stability at the club. Hence, they’d make their captain stay until 2023 when his contract ends.
2. The departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen would force Chelsea’s hand as the club wouldn’t want to lose three experienced defenders, possibly four if you add Marcos Alonso, in one transfer window.
