Barcelona technical director Jordi Cruyff have confirmed that Barcelona are unlikely to make any new signings in the transfer window.
“The president communicated that [making new signings] is very complicated, it is the reality that we have,” Cruyff said in his interview with Diario Sport.
“We proudly have seventeen World Cup players, which means the squad is super competitive.
“One always wants to improve, but during the last transfer market, we were able to do what we could do. The financial fair play was very tight but we still managed to reinforce the areas that we thought were vital to being able to compete in La Liga, not in the Champions League.
“The result shows that we are moving on the right track. Other things will be done when they can. If it can’t be done now, that’s fine, we’ll work with what’s available,” Cruyff concluded.
Barcelona signed seven players last summer in defence, midfield and attack. But it wasn’t enough to stop the Blaugrana from exiting the Champions League at the group stage.
Barca were linked with a new defender at right back and a left-footed centre-half like Inigo Martinez to replace Pique but all that is unlikely to happen in January due to Financial Fair Play rules in Spain.
