- The 21-year-old could be available for €16m this summer.
- The promising shot-stopper has conceded 32 goals in 25 matches this season, keeping just 8 clean sheets.
- Barca have two home-grown talents Inaki Pena and Arnau Tenas to replace their current No.2 Neto if he decides to leave.
According to Portuguese top source A Bola, Barcelona are interested in Sporting’s goalkeeper Luis Maximiano. The Catalan club view the 21-year-old as a potential long-term successor to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
A Bola add that Milan are also interested in the promising youngster. Neither of the sides have made an official bid for Maximiano, though.
The same source claims Sporting would let their No.1 goalkeeper leave for €16million this summer. Transfermarkt, for their part, value the 21-year-old at just €2.7million.
Maximiano has been at Sporting since 2012. He came through the ranks of the club’s academy. The goalkeeper made his first-team debut two years ago. He has a contract until 2023.
This season, Maximiano has conceded 32 goals in 25 matches for the Portuguese giants, keeping 8 clean sheets during this run.
For comparison, Marc-Andre ter Stegen has kept 12 clean sheets and conceded 34 goals in 35 matches this term.
It remains to be seen whether Barca are really looking for a new back-up goalkeeper. Currently, they still have Neto who is linked with a potential exit after just one season at the Camp Nou stadium.
Besides, the Catalans have two very promising home-grown shot-stoppers, Inaki Pena and Arnau Tenas.
