Barcelona have called an extraordinary meeting for June 16 for their members to vote on two financial operations.
1. Sale of up to 49.9 per cent of Barca Licensing and Merchandising (Barcelona’s official e-commerce platform for sale of products).
2. Sale of up to 25 per cent of television rights.
It is expected that both operations will be approved by the club members.
Barcelona will receive around €740m in total from these two sales, reports 2Playbook. That’s some huge money for the club in today’s complicated circumstances.
Most of this money will be used to cover part of Barcelona’s enormous debt they gained during Josep Maria Bartomeu’s tenure.
Part of this income will be spent on transfers too. It is yet unknown how much exactly will be injected into Barca’s transfer budget – Barcelona may still need to sell a few players to be able to make truly big signings.
