- Despite earning all three points against the Ukrainians, Barca’s performance on Wednesday was far from perfect.
- Mario Kempes has slammed the Blaugrana’s ‘static’ team for the lack of effort.
“Barcelona are a dead team. Everyone is static,” Mario Kempes, who won the World Cup with Argentina in 1978, told ESPN after Barca’s 2-1 home victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday.
“They don’t move when they have the ball, and they move even less when they lose it! The goals come from individual acts of brilliance, a cross and a penalty.”
The win against the Ukrainian side was the Catalans’ third in the competition this season as they defeated Ferencvaros and Juventus last month.
The Blaugrana’s latest performance, on the other hand, could hardly be considered a success. Even Ronald Koeman admitted that Barca’s ‘off-the-ball movement and play was very bad‘ after the final whistle at Camp Nou.
