Barcelona have decided on two signings for January transfer window.
Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona have struggled a lot so far with all the financial problems at the club. To add to the pile, his main players like Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique, and Ousmane Dembele have all faced major injuries so far.
Transfers are a necessity, especially over at the Nou Camp given so many changes and transitions that are taking place. The group of players that have brought in success over the years are either ageing or have already left the club, like Luis Suarez to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
According to reports, Barcelona are planning to make two major signings in the upcoming January transfer window of 2021. The Blaugrana have been heavily interested in Manchester City’s Eric Garcia for quite a while now.
Pep Guardiola tried to pin down the former La Masia youngster with a new contract but the 19-year-old declined. The Spaniard’s contract comes to an end in the summer of 2021 but Barcelona will be pushing for a move in January as City will be able to sell him for some money rather than risk losing him for free in the summer.
Olympique Lyon’s Memphis Depay is another one of Barcelona’s or rather, Koeman’s main targets. The Dutchman has been after the former Manchester United winger since his arrival at the Nou Camp. Lyon even reduced the selling price of Depay in order to help Barca make the signing with ease but due to the extremely dire financial conditions that occurred due to the coronavirus pandemic at the Nou Camp, the Catalans failed to land Depay.
Now reports suggest that Koeman will be after the Dutchman in the January transfer window alongside City’s Garcia as he plans to reinforce the squad in a more thorough way given the fact that he failed to land the replacements of the players who departed from the Nou Camp during the summer transfer window of 2020.
