Manchester City defender unclear when he will move to Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City star, Eric Garcia, is wanted by Barcelona but he is uncertain as to whether a deal can be reached or not. The center-back joined City from the Nou Camp a few years back but now wishes to return to Spain.
Ronald Koeman is on a mission to completely reinvent the Spanish side. This means that he must get rid of all the deadwood in the club and bring in younger players with more enthusiasm and vitality. The club has done great work with the Sergino Dest transfer and they now want a young center-back to replace Gerard Pique.
Garcia is the perfect replacement, having played in La Masia as a youngster, he already knows the club well and he is also very young thus can adapt to Koeman’s philosophy and game style. However, their 15 million euros bid was less than satisfactory. The Citizens have put a price tag of 35 million euros and if the Spanish giants are unable to improve their offer, Garcia will be forced to stay in Manchester for a little longer.
Guardiola has admitted that Garcia wants to join the Catalans and he has refused to sign a new contract but if Barca are not able to provide more, the transfer cannot go through. As for now, he is a City player but we must wait and see if the Catalans can negotiate the deal and secure the youngster before the transfer season ends. Even if they don’t, fans need not worry as its almost a certainty that the defender will join for free once his contract expires.
